Our Objective

The Bangladesh Development Forum (BDF) is a high-level forum that discusses strategic development priorities and corresponding policy issues and reform requirements, and reviews related progress. The Forum also allows the international community to voice its financial, technical and political support to Bangladesh in line with the commitments taken in Paris, Accra and Busan.

Who We Are

The BDF is chaired by a high-level representative of the Government. It is attended by GoB Ministers and senior representatives of development partner agencies, as well as representatives from civil society, academia and the private sector.

Timing

The BDF is held every second year. The first meeting of the BDF was held in 2002. It replaced the Aid Consortium held in Paris. In 2005, Bangladesh government announced that they will take over the management of Bangladesh Development Forum from the World Bank. In 2015, the BDF was held five years after the last meeting in 2010. In January 2018, the two day Bangladesh Development Forum meeting took place at Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Dhaka. The meeting hosted 700 delegates. Last BDF event took place in January 2020 with around 1500+ participants from Government, DPs, private sector, civil society, academia, and media. RCO played the coordination role between Government and DPs. The last two events were inaugurated by hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina
